On January 17, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services (“HHS”) issued the long awaited final omnibus HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules implementing the amendments made by the HITECH Act. The panel will discuss the changes that affect health plans and what plan sponsors and their business associates must do to comply by the September 23, 2013 deadline. The speakers will focus on how the final rules:
