On 30 March 2021, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) updated its Q&As on the application of the UCITS Directive. ESMA has added two new Q&As on ESMA’s guidelines on performance fees in UCITS and certain types of alternative investment funds. The Q&As provide clarification on the crystallisation of the performance fees and on the timeline of the application of the performance reference period.
