US Designates Kurdistan and Iran Entities as Terrorists

By Trade Practitioner on March 25, 2019

US FlagOn March 1, 2019, the Department of State reviewed and maintained the Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) designation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). On March 5, 2019, the Department of State designated the Iranian proxy group Harakat al-Nujaba and its leader, Akram ‘Abbas al-Kabi, as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) under E.O. 13224. Terrorist designations expose and isolate organizations and individuals, and deny them access to the US financial system.
