On 6 February 2019, the FCA added a “next steps” section to its webpage on Discussion Paper 18/5 which discusses the case for and against introducing a duty of care on firms as well as seeking views on what form it might take. The deadline for comments on the Discussion Paper was 2 November 2018. The FCA states that it is carefully reviewing the responses to the Discussion Paper and will announce its next steps in Spring 2019.
