Consultation on Dutch implementing regulation 4MLD

By Nikolai de Koning on May 8, 2018

On 7 May 2018, the draft regulation implementing the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (EU/2015/849) (Vierde anti-witwasrichtlijn, 4MLD) was published for consultation (Implementatieregeling vierde anti-witwasrichtlijn, the Implementing Regulation).

Among other things, the Implementing Regulation provides for an exemption from the obligations of the Act on the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism (Wet ter voorkoming van witwassen en financiering van terrorisme, Wwft) for certain providers of gambling services (aanbieders van kansspeldiensten). Together with the Act implementing 4MLD (Implementatiewet vierde anti-witwasrichtlijn) and the Implementing Decree Wwft 2018 (Uitvoeringsbesluit Wwft 2018), the Implementing Regulation implements 4MLD in Dutch legislation.

The consultation period ends on 4 June 2018.
