The Government has published a speech given by the Home Secretary, Amber Rudd MP, at the FCA’s financial crime conference. Points of interest in the speech include:
- the Government plans to deliver the Criminal Finances Bill, with Royal Asset in spring 2017 with the powers commenced later that year;
- the Government will continue to work with the US, Switzerland, UAE, Australia and Singapore to deliver their London Anti-Corruption Summit commitments on the creation of public-private information sharing partnerships;
- the Government is committed to creating a new beneficial ownership register for overseas companies; and
- the National Crime Agency is working to get the new International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre operational by April 2017. The centre will be instrumental in tackling big multi-jurisdictional corruption cases.
