TPP Poses Challenge for AGOA

stock-photo-3061205-african-marketFrank Samolis, our International Trade Practice Co-Chair, was recently quoted in a Global Trade Review article titled “Chinese investment along One Belt One Road revealed.” In the article, he discusses the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the United States’ waning influence on trade in Africa. He notes that “The TPP poses a challenge for AGOA because, looking primarily at Vietnam, one of the TPP members, because when TPP goes into effect they will have an enormous advantage relative to the AGOA countries because they will have unrestricted free trade.” Read the full article here.
