The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) has issued a public consultation on a revised version of the General guide to account opening (the Guide). The Guide is intended to support banks in implementing the Financial Action Task Force standards and guidance, which requires the adoption of specific policies and procedures, in particular on account opening. When finalised the revised version of the Guide will be added as an annex to the BCBS’ Sound management of risks related to money laundering and financing of terrorism. The deadline for comments on the consultation is 22 October 2015.
