HM Treasury consults on UK transposition of BRRD

By Simon Lovegrove (UK) on July 24, 2014

HM Treasury has published a consultation paper on the UK transposition of the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD).

In the consultation paper, HM Treasury seeks views on key aspects of the transposition and sets out its policy on those areas where it considers that amendments to primary and secondary legislation are required. In particular, it intends to make amendments to the special resolution regime (SRR), as set out in Banking Act 2009 and related secondary legislation.

The deadline for responses to the consultation paper is 28 September 2014. The UK has until 31 December 2014 to adopt and publish the necessary laws to transpose the BRRD, apart from the bail-in measures, and to apply them from 1 January 2015.
