Today’s “Asset Search News Roundup” reports on “Operation Illegal Motion” and describes the recovery of a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus:

A press release mentions that Robert L. Stevens of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was the 10th person criminally charged as a result of “Operation Illegal Motion”. Operation Illegal Motion is a public corruption probe of the criminal court system of East Baton Rouge Parish. So far the probe has resulted in the convictions of two former police officers, the former chief investigator for a public defender’s office, former court employees and others.
On March 10, 2010 U.S. authorities returned a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus to the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt’s Ministry of Culture. The 21st Dynasty sarcophagus was interdicted at Miami International Airport in 2008 and subsequently forfeited. Its exporter in Spain could not provide proper provenance and the sarcophagus is presumed to have been stolen.
