The Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) recent report into the litigation finance industry was viewed by some as a promising start to wider acknowledgement and acceptance of the practice, whilst others criticized it for a lack of tangible policy recommendations. However, the leader of one of the industry’s most prominent associations has stated that the GAO’s report in fact recognized the ‘value of commercial legal finance’ to improving access to justice.
