Litigation Funding Pops Up in Another South African IP Claim
First there was the ‘Please Call Me’ case, where Nkosana Makate is suing Vodacam for allegedly poaching his idea for a free text app that signals to the recipient you’d like a call back (for users with no money left on their SIM cards). That case is being funded by litigation funder Raining Men Trade. Now we have Thandile Jwambi and Tatolo Kutumane, who are suing Nedbank for alleged infringement of their Instablock IP. Their claim is being funded by the South African Litigation Funding Company (Salfco).
