DBA SymposiumOn July 9, 2026, Member Samantha Kaplan, who leads Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett’s Chicago office, co-presented with Kent Rogers, founder of Lodestar Law, at the 2026 Defense Base Act East Coast Symposium.

Samantha spoke about a controversial topic on everyone’s mind, across all fields: artificial intelligence. Specifically, she discussed the ethics surrounding the new technology and how it can be practically used in the DBA world.

The Symposium was held at Jay Conference Bryant Park in New York City and hosted by Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor. The one-day conference brought together attorneys and claims professionals who handle maritime and overseas workers’ compensation extensions. Topics focused on emerging trends and practical challenges in Defense Base Act practice.

Managing Member Alan Brackett served as the moderator.
