China Inks 86 Bilateral Judicial Assistance Treaties

On 24 Nov. 2023, the Minister of China’s Ministry of Justice (MOJ), He Rong, mentioned in Beijing that China has now signed bilateral judicial assistance treaties with 86 countries and treaties on the transfer of sentenced persons with 17 countries.

Minister He Rong further indicated that China handles over 300 requests for international judicial assistance in criminal matters and over 3,000 requests in civil and commercial matters every year.

Minister He Rong made the announcement during a series of thematic press conferences held by the State Council Information Office.

Du Yaling, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the MOJ, also mentioned during the conference that China has processed 206 requests for judicial assistance in criminal matters and over 2,200 requests for judicial assistance in civil and commercial matters this year. In addition, China approved the transfer of sentenced persons to 32 countries.
