On 7 March 2022, China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) released the 35th batch of guiding cases, mainly involving the protection of minors.
A total of five guiding cases were released this time, including cases on infringing children’s personal information, providing tattoo services for minors, eliminating potential safety risks in kindergartens, supervising food safety of food stores around campuses, and admitting minor customers to Internet cafes.
In one of the cases, a company used an app to illegally attract minors to register, collect information from minors, and push short videos containing minors’ information to minor users. The Procuratorate filed a public interest lawsuit against the company, requesting it to stop the infringement, and filed an administrative lawsuit against the regulatory authority for the Internet, requiring it to perform its regulatory duties.
