Texas Tech Law dean to depart for post at John Marshall

Texas Tech University School of Law Dean Darby Dickerson will soon leave her post to take the reins as dean of the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, according to an announcement Monday.

darbydickerson“I am incredibly honored to lead John Marshall, which has such an inclusive and engaged community,” Dickerson said in the announcement. “I am committed to continuing the school’s legacy of innovation, opportunity and excellence.”

Dickerson has served since 2011 as dean of Texas Tech University School of Law, where she also holds a W. Frank Newton Endowed Professorship. She announced her departure to students and staff on Friday, Lubbock-based radio station KFYO reported.

“It has been a tremendous pleasure and honor to serve as dean and the W. Frank Newton Professor of Law for the last five-and-a-half years,” Dickerson said in the email, according to KFYO. “We have a strong, dynamic community and I will always cherish my time here and the relationships I developed.”

Dickerson will start at John Marshall Law School January 1, 2017.
