Why You Should Create a 2014 Plan

By Cordell Parvin on December 26, 2013

I originally posted this blog in December of 2009. I have updated it with current dates.

Have you begun preparing your 2014 business plan? If not, you are not alone.

You may be wondering: Why should I prepare one? The answer is quite simple: Planning helps you get the greatest return on your investment of time and energy.

But, many if not most, lawyers will not create a plan for 2014. For those lawyers, I like a quote attributed to Jim Cathcart and others:

Most people aim at nothing in life and hit it with amazing accuracy.

I think you will find creating a 2014 plan valuable because you will develop clarity of what you want to achieve and feel that you are in control of your destiny.

If I have convinced you to prepare a 2014 plan and you want some help, watch this Planning Webinar for LexBlog. I think you will find it valuable as you prepare your 2014 Plan.

We are putting together 2014 Group Telephone Client Development Coaching. (Click to learn more about the program.) As you will see, our first session in January will focus on preparing a 2014 plan.

Some firms are creating their own groups. Some lawyers are joining others from the US and Canada. If you want to take your practice to the next level, consider creating your own group of 6, or joining one of the other groups.
