This probably ranks near the top in a mismanaged recall/market withdraw/PR disaster that I have seen in 20 years.
According to a press release on the FDA website, Chobani has ceased the distribution of the product due to reports of product bloating and swelling and some claims of illness as the company continues its investigation to identify the root cause. The potentially affected product was distributed nationwide from its Twin Falls, Idaho facility and was delivered to consumers through retail and club stores.
The containers are labeled with the code 16-012 and have expiration dates 9/11/2013 to 10/7/2013. The affected products include:
- Chobani 6-ounce cups
- Chobani 16-ounce tubs
- Chobani 32-ounce tubs
- Chobani 3.5-ounce cups
- Chobani Bite 3.5-ounce cups
- Chobani Flip 5.3-ounce containers
