Jackson Ranked 8th Worst City for Young Attorneys

By Philip Thomas on October 29, 2012

Per Above the Law, National Jurist ranks Jackson the 8th worst city for young attorneys. Jackson ranks just behind Baton Rouge and San Antonio. Cities Jackson beats include Albuquerque, Des Moines, Charleston, Oklahoma City, Dayton, Louisville and Little Rock.

The list reports the median salary for Jackson young attorneys as $93,750. That means they only surveyed a couple of firms, because there is no way the median salary is really that high for young attorneys. Most of the other listed cities are in the $50,000’s. I’m sure Jackson should be in that range.

My Take:

I don’t know how these rankings work, but they are kind of stupid. How can you rank a city? Jackson might suck for one person and be the bomb for the next. It’s all subject to too many variables to put on the list.

Not that I’m saying Jackson is awesome or anything. I’m not even sure that it belongs on a list of cities.
