Sushi Linked Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 100

New York, Illinois, Maryland and Wisconsin hardest hit. 10 Hospitalized.

Screen Shot 2012-04-06 at 10.28.40 AM.pngAccording to the CDC, a total of 100 persons infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Bareilly have been reported from 19 states and the District of Columbia. Many of the ill persons reported consuming sushi, sashimi, or similar foods in a variety of locations in the week before becoming ill.

The number of ill persons identified in each state is as follows: Alabama (2), Arkansas (1), Connecticut (5), District of Columbia (2), Georgia (4), Illinois (9), Louisiana (2), Maryland (10), Massachusetts (4), Mississippi (1), Missouri (1), New Jersey (7), New York (23), North Carolina (2), Pennsylvania (3), Rhode Island (4), South Carolina (3), Texas (3), Virginia (5), and Wisconsin (9). 10 ill persons have been hospitalized.
