Tyson Prepared Foods of South Hutchinson, KS is recalling approximately 12,060 pounds of pizza topping because the packaging identifies an ingredient as beef, but it is actually pork. Additionally, the pork contains soy, a potential allergen, which is not listed on the label.
The discrepancies were reported by a product purchaser. There have been no reports of adverse reactions.
This Class II recall is of 10-pound cartons labeled as “Cooked Pizza Topping” containing two, 5-pound packages labeled as “ARREZZIO-COOKED BEEF PIZZA TOPPING MANZO COTTO PER PIZZA.”
The products also bear the establishment number “EST. 623” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the label. The products were produced Jan. 12, 2012, and were sold to foodservice institutions nationwide via a distributor. The product is intended for use in restaurants or institutional food operations; it is not sold in retail grocery stores.
Class II recalls are a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences.
