Pine Nuts Recalled by David Roberts and Sysco Due to Salmonella

By Bill Marler on November 5, 2011

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says some David Roberts brand and Sysco brand pine nuts may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The products were distributed to food service accounts in Ontario and sold at the David Roberts Food Corporation retail store in Mississauga.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the products, which have been recalled.

Salmonella bacteria can cause serious, and sometimes even deadly infections.

In healthy people, typical short-term symptoms include high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

However long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
