A controversial bill that would provide $23 billion in federal funding to preserve teaching jobs has lost momentum, but, according to proponents, still may be passed by Congress. Under the current version of the bill, which has been nicknamed “EduJobs”, Connecticut would receive approximately $250 million to preserve teaching jobs during the 2010-2011 school year. Efforts last week to attach the bill to a wartime funding bill were abandoned, but the bill’s advocates have said that Congress will revisit the bill next week, after its Memorial Day recess ends.
