Blogs generate local business

By Kevin O'Keefe on February 17, 2006

Blogs for local business is the subject of a good post from Ted Demopoulos, co-author of Blogging for Business.

The reasons blogs work for local businesses, just like national businesses:

  • Websites are ‘brochure-wear.’ No one ever looks at them unless they make a point of it. Blogs turn ‘dull’ into ‘dynamic’ (or at least less dull!) and encourage repeat visitors.
  • Search engines usually send websites close to zero traffic. Search engines love blogs. With web searches complementing and replacing local telephone yellow pages, people search for local printers, local lawyers, and local electricians using Google.
  • Local businesses are relationship based. The personal nature of blogs can help increase the feeling of knowing a local business.

Most of LexBlog’s clients are looking for local businesses. Blogs have worked well for them for exactly these reasons. Ability to build relationships and search engine traffic.
