He had wondered, as had most people at one time or another, precisely why an android bounced helplessly about when confronted by an empathy-measuring test. Empathy, evidently, existed only within the human community, whereas intelligence to some degree could be found throughout every phylum and order including the arachnida.

Time for a conference update – library and information conferences are returning to various cities, or being presented as a hybrid of online/physical. Dates are all over the place but there remains an overwhelming choice of conference. Choice in every why, when, what, how, who – anything is now possible!

Occasionally someone publishes an academic paper which is of immediate interest and this one by Haim Sandberg caught my eye. “What is Legal Innovation?” was flagged by my morning current awareness bulletin and I opened and read it straight away. The abstract states, 

Six months, six popular blog posts: we are halfway through 2021 and I wanted to see what people were reading on the Vable current awareness strategy blog. This year has seen us all settling into a new information reality so it has been my intention to write practical pieces which embrace this outlook.
