Fate of Digital Assets Bill in Senate in Doubt

The Senate isn’t likely to act quickly – or maybe at all – on legislation that aims to provide regulatory clarity for digital assets after the House approved the bill on a bipartisan vote in May. Backers of the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act say the measure would give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission new jurisdiction over digital commodities, clarify the jurisdiction of the Securities and Exchange Commission over investment contracts, and create comprehensive registration regimes.
