The great thing about HP printers is that they seem to last forever and never die. At least that’s been my experience. However, according to a post on BleepingComputer, macOS X users have lost the ability to print to their HP printers because Apple revoked the certificate HP uses to sign the print drivers. In other words, macOS X thinks the print driver is malware. Reports are that the printer problem impacts both macOS Catalina (10.15) and Mojave (10.14) users.

BleepingComputer has instructions to temporarily resolve the problem if you have a HP OfficeJet model printer with wireless printing and have also enabled the printer’s web interface. Basically, the instructions tell you how to generate a new Self-Signed certificate for the printer. Frankly, I think Self-Signed certificates should never be trusted, but it looks like it is the only option currently available for users to get back to printing.
