Our client, a respected physician, was facing what we believed to be false allegations of sexual assault of a patient. After being arrested at his clinic, posting bond, and fighting this case in court for nearly a year, the District Attorney’s Office dismissed his case a week before jury trial, citing that they could not prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. This was our position all along, and although pleased with the final result, it is disturbing that it took prosecutors so long to do the right thing. As is often the case, as we approached the trial date, the prosecutor made several offers hoping to entice a plea, our client was resolute in his innocence, and we were prepared to prove it in court.
