Defendant appealed his conviction for child abuse and involuntary manslaughter, challenging the denial of his motion for judgment of acquittal. Defendant argued that there was insufficient evidence to support his conviction.
Where there was sufficient evidence to find that defendant knowingly caused the victims injury through abuse or neglect, including the fact that the victims suffered multiple injuries while in defendant’s care and defendant’s shifting explanations for the injuries that indicated a consciousness of guilt, the trial court correctly denied defendant’s motion for judgment of acquittal.
Judgment is affirmed.
