During a June visit to the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri lawyer Syd Tippie and his husband, Jim Burke, fed graham crackers to a couple of hungry giraffes. Tippie is a zoo ambassador at Dickerson Park Zoo, which Tippie says allows him to take a break from practicing law and focus on his passion for animals.
“If you cannot take care of yourself, how can you reasonably be expected to advocate for someone else?” he says. “Self-care is a foundation to effectively practicing law.”
