The truck’s owner had parked the vehicle at a gas pump and left it unlocked and filling up. While the owner was inside the gas station, a witness told him that someone was driving off with his truck. The owner, an employee, and other witnesses tried to confront the suspect, but he fled in the stolen vehicle, crashing into a car that had been positioned to block his path. The suspect continued to flee, and at one point, he tried to run over the owner and his employee. The owner and an employee pursued the truck and caught up to it, with one of them breaking the driver’s side window and pulling the suspect out of the truck. They restrained him until the police arrived. The suspect was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and faces charges of armed robbery and aggravated battery. The police continue to investigate the case, and the suspect may face additional charges.
