MANATEE COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol has announced a man from Bradenton Florida died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing US 41 in Bradenton Tuesday morning.

The crash began as a 65-year-old man from Bradenton was riding a bicycle near the intersection of 45th Avenue Circle West, and US 41 mid moring.

As the man was cycling traveling east, a 27-year-old man from Palm Beach Gardens Florida was driving a pickup truk southbound on US 41 on the inside lane, and approaching the intersection with 45th Avenue Circle West from the north.

At 9:50 AM the man riding the bicycle violated the driver of the pickup truck’s right of way and traveled directly in front of the oncoming truck.

The front of the pickup truck crashed into the side of the bicyclist, throwing them onto the roadway where they came to a rest on the pavement within southbound US 41.

Manatee County EMS responded to the crash and pronounced the man from Bradenton deceased at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed in the collision, and no charges have been filed.

Florida Highway Patrol has stated that the crash is still under investigation.
