Let’s face it. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the security of our devices, especially as cyberattacks are a new way of life. ZDNet has a post to help you improve the security of your Android phone in just five easy steps.

  1. Only install apps you must have
  2. Only install apps from the Google Play Store
  3. Do not tap links from SMS messages from unknown sources
  4. Update, update, update
  5. Do not connect to unsecured networks without a VPN

Some would say that the suggestions are a no brainer and should be followed for all devices. Number 5 gives me a little pause. My recommendation is to not connect to an unsecured network with or without a VPN. In other words, avoid unsecured networks at all costs.
