Sarasota County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a 29-year-old man from Sarasota Florida remains in Critical Condition after a hit and run accident when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.

FHP stated that the accident was located on North Lockwood Ridge Road, North of Monica Boulevard in Sarasota, Florida

The driver of the silver sedan involved in the crash fled the scene and their identity and whereabouts are unknown at this time.

The report states that the accident occurred as the driver of a vehicle, possibly a silver-colored sedan, was traveling northbound on North Lockwood Ridge Road, North of the intersection with Monica Boulevard in Sarasota, Florida.

As the sedan was approaching from the south, a 29-year-old man from Sarasota Florida was riding a bicycle in the bike lane of northbound Lockwood Ridge Road.

At 10:00:00 PM, the driver of the sedan encountered the bicyclist and crashed into the man from Sarasota, in the bike lane.

The force of the crash critically injured the man, and he was transported to an area hospital by first responders.

After the collision, the driver of the silver sedan fled the scene northbound on North Lockwood Ridge Road.

The report also stated that the man riding the bicycle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
