Galaxy Watch 4 Is Getting Four Years Of Upgrades. Computer devices tend to become obsolete in a couple of years. But, the good news is that new, improved versions are available as technology advances. Some luxury watch fans kid me about this obsolescence curve. Hey, my Rolex will last a lifetime! Well, yes, it probably will. But, it will still only tell time and date 20 years from now. The Smartwatch I have then will probably have more functions than God needs. And, your watch costs $10,000. I will probably not reach $5,000 in 20 years of Smartwatch purchases. And, even Rolexes require annual cleaning and servicing, which costs more than a single Smartwatch. But, enough of the comparisons. Samsung has announced that Galaxy Watch 4 will be getting 4 years of upgrades, and it will still work fine after that. But, if you want the watch that comes out then, and which performs major surgery by itself, you will want to upgrade. So, if you aren’t convinced, buy a Watch 4 (you can get one for around $200 if you don’t get the phone enabled LTE version), and play with it. You’ll be glad you did.
