A 47-year-old motorcyclist from Ontario was hit and killed in Rancho Cucamonga, near Hermosa Avenue and Arrow Route. He was hit by a 56-year-old SUV driver from La Verne when it happened on Friday, December 17. Allegedly, the SUV driver made a left turn before making contact with the motorcycle, and the driver has decided to cooperate with authorities.
It was the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department that came out to help the motorcyclist, Justin Palmer, according to the Daily Bulletin. The collision with the Range Rover SUV happened at about 7:39 a.m. on Friday morning.
KTLA reports that police saw Palmer “awake and responsive at the scene,” though he’d been suffering from some serious wounds from the crash.
LA Weekly says that the paramedics who arrived eventually transported Palmer to a hospital so he could be treated, though he eventually succumbed and died of his injuries there.
Reports indicate that Palmer was heading in a westerly direction down Arrow Route when the motorcyclist made contact with the Range Rover travelling to the east, in the opposite direction.
For a short period of time, the accident led to the highway’s closure. This allowed responders to clean up the wreckage and take care of other business related to the crash.
