On Saturday evening anonymous homeowners and hosts of a holiday party witnessed guests turned victims to an armed robbery and home invasion. Video footage from the Palisades home shows two black men, armed with guns, entering the home where they allegedly took wallets, phones, jewelry, and a watch from two guests.
According to a CBS Los Angeles article, one of the homeowners described “feeling disturbed, violated that people were in our house with guns.” She requested to stay anonymous, keeping her name and face off screen. Apparently, the robbery started inside of the home even though the party was being held in the backyard. Two guests wanted to grab something from their purses inside and were told to have been robbed of their belongings at gunpoint. Luckily, no one has been hurt.
An alleged neighbor and friend of the homeowners, Steven Bardack, also spoke on the frustration and fear the neighborhood is feeling about the robbery. He claims, “The idea of a no bail or low bail environment only emboldens and perpetuates a systemic problem. It’s getting worse and it’s rapidly, rapidly deteriorating.”
Security cameras saw two men walking past the home and then doubling back moments later. Another camera then recorded the two entering the walkway and going through the front gate. The homeowners have expressed frustration, despite the presence of this evidence they were unable to submit their footage to the police, citing a broken link. Additionally, Nation World News indicates that even the landlord attempted to get into contact with authorities multiple times but was unsuccessful.
Even further, the homeowners described being told that the police would reach out to them. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Though the police have confirmed some of the issues to news sources, they would not give further details.
One of the officers also notably refused to give his full name, as indicated in an article by Good Word News.
NY Post also reports that the two women who were robbed were meant to be contacted, but that is also yet to happen.
The two black male suspects have been noted as leaving the scene in a vehicle, possibly a Hyundai or a Kia. Based on reports, no arrests have been made yet.
Police data indicates that Los Angeles robberies have increased 3.2% between this year and last, but violent crime has increased much more drastically. Based on 2019 statistics, there have been increases in homicides by 46.7% and in shooting victims by 51.4% in Los Angeles in 2021.
