Six years ago today, I posted about my current Smartwatch, which was a Gear S from Samsung. The Gear line of Smartwatches was designed in a rectangular format, which we all thought was cool, because it symbolized a departure from mechanical watches. It was big, really big, and looked like a vertical computer screen. In fact, since the beginning, Smartwatch evolution has paralleled computer evolution, in increased capability of smaller and smaller computer insides. Six years later, however, the OS has gotten much better at providing readable text and images on a circular screen, which appeals to the traditional watch buyers and users. You can make a wearable wrist computer; but, it seems consumers want to buy watches that look like traditional watches. Apple still bucks this trend, and considers it a badge of honor. Different strokes for different folks.
