Hate monthly/yearly continuous payments? According to a post on Windows Central, Microsoft will offer a version of Office that is not subscription based in 2021. That means you can make a one time payment for the software just like you were able to do in the past. It’s not unlike walking down the isle of a computer store and picking up a box with software. Many believed that Office 2019 would be the last perpetual license of Office, but a post by the Microsoft Exchange Team indicated otherwise. I still believe that a subscription model is the better choice so you can get updates and feature improvements throughout the subscription period. A perpetual license means you only get those features available at the time of release.
