Five years ago, I posted this quote from Vince Lombardi. It is even more pertinent today, in the middle of the pandemic:
“Lombardi Friday.
There is a lot being said these days about our society, and the fact that many want something for nothing, and want others to pay the bill. But, success isn’t just about money; it is a mindset and a personal goal setting process that is unique to the individual. The best words about what is required for “success” (however defined) came from my favorite football philosopher, Vince Lombardi:
“Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”
“To achieve success, whatever the job we have, we must pay a price.”
“Success is like anything worthwhile. It has a price. You have to pay the price to win and you have to pay the price to get to the point where success is possible. Most important, you must pay the price to stay there.”
