Zoom Now Requires Passwords For All. All the hype last week about Zoombombing (Bad Actors Invading Zoom Meetings With Bad Content) blamed Zoom for not having robust enough security measures. However, it has always been possible to prevent this by requiring a password for entry to a Zoom meeting. Duh. This reminds me of all of the people who are shocked (shocked, I tell you) when their web apps get hacked, and we find out they used passwords that are easily hacked, or failed to use a simple two factor authentication protocol. But, Zoom needed to do something about the media P.R. disaster, so it did the only thing it could. You are now required to set a password, and it is mandatory. We must protect you from yourself, mustn’t we? Jeez.
