Lake Hopatcong Man Faces Child Abuse Charges

By Travis Tormey on September 7, 2017

Lake Hopatcong Child Abuse Law FirmA grand jury in Morris County, NJ indicted a Lake Hopatcong NJ man who allegedly assaulted his young child.

The suspect is a 25-year-old man from Lake Hopatcong in Morris County, NJ. According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect committed an act of child abuse when he suddenly dropped the victim onto the floor at the Lake Hopatcong home.

Afterwards, someone else reportedly took the victim to Morristown Medical Center for urgent medical treatment.

Morris County law enforcement believes that the suspect grew agitated while having a conversation on the phone and dropped the child.

According to authorities, the suspect later admitted in a Facebook post that he dropped the infant. The suspect was then arrested by police and charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Now the suspect could be headed to trial in Morris County Superior Court after being indicted by a grand jury.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the most serious charges of aggravated assault, a second degree felony, he could face up to 10 years behind bars in New Jersey State Prison.
