Amendment 2 passed back in November 2016, but the Florida Legislature is moving slowly to implement the necessary regulations for medical marijuana to get to the marketplace. See my posts here and here regarding Florida’s two leading proposals.
In the meantime, the Florida fraudsters and scammers have swooped in to fill the void. The Florida Department of Health is warning residents to avoid businesses advertising free or cheaper access to medical marijuana while claiming they are with the state’s Office of Compassionate Use while also asking for credit card information. And since the Florida Legislature is moving at a snail’s pace, the Office of Compassionate Use is restricted by existing law (which is much narrower than what was proposed under Amendment 2).
