Podcast: The Law of Sanctuary Cities and Trump’s Executive Order

By Robert Ambrogi on February 6, 2017

Say what you will about Donald Trump, but his timing is impeccable. On the very day that the president signed his controversial executive order targeting sanctuary cities, we were scheduled to record a Lawyer 2 Lawyer episode on that very topic. The signing of the order, just hours before we recorded, helped fuel what certainly would already have been a very heated debate between our two guests.

That show has now been posted, and the result is an informative and often combative discussion of the legal and policy issues on both sides. Our guests for this episode are:

  • Matthew J. O’Brien, director of research at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). Matt joined FAIR in 2016 and is responsible for managing FAIR’s research activities.
  • Jonathan Blazer, the American Civil Liberty Union’s advocacy and policy counsel, whose responsibilities include tracking developments in state and local measures concerning immigrants as well as police practices and supporting the legislative advocacy efforts of ACLU staff across the country.

Listen to the show using the player above or at the Legal Talk Network. Never miss an episode by subscribing via the iTunes library or our RSS feed.
