By Leonard Biddison on June 30, 2015

Haddonfield Rite Aid Robbery InvestigationHaddonfield New Jersey police are searching for a man accused of committing an armed robbery at a local Rite Aid.

Around 12:00 p.m., the Haddonfield Police Department got a call about an armed robbery at the Rite Aid store located on Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield, NJ.

The suspect reportedly walked into the pharmacy, approached store employees, and flashed a handgun. The suspect allegedly stole several prescription medications and then ran to the parking lot, where he reportedly pulled a person out of a parked car and stole the vehicle.

When police officers got to the scene, the suspect was already gone. Haddonfield NJ police officers, assisted by the Camden County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.

While conducting the search, police locked down schools located near the Rite Aid pharmacy.

Police eventually found the vehicle that the suspect is accused of stealing from the Rite Aid parking lot. The car was abandoned roughly one block from the pharmacy.

The Haddonfield Police Department and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting a joint investigation into the robbery. Investigators have not yet identified a suspect in the theft.

Police recently provided the media with a description of the armed robbery suspect. He is id to be a white male who stands approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. On the day of the robbery, the suspect reportedly wore an orange and yellow traffic vest, a dark hooded sweatshirt, goggles, and a hat.

If the suspect is identified and arrested, he would face significant criminal penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, anyone who uses a deadly weapon such as a firearm to commit a robbery can be charged with a first degree criminal offense. A conviction for first degree armed robbery could result in a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

Members of the public who have information about the robbery or the suspect should contact Haddonfield detectives at 856-429-3000 or Camden County Prosecutor’s Office investigators at 856-225-8569.
