An on-line course is now available for practitioners of acupuncture and traditional oriental medicine seeking recertification as Diplomates from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
The course, entitled Ethics for Practitioners of Acupuncture and Traditional Oriental Medicine: Learning Practice Boundaries, is designed to help practitioners: (a) spot key ethical (and related legal) principles in clinical practice; (b) identify behavior considered unethical (including practicing outside the scope of practice; fraud; improper billing; breaches of confidentiality and privacy; boundary violations); (c) know the core psychological concepts in ethics applicable to working with clients on an intuitive/energetic level and in nonordinary states of consciousness; and (d) learn the structure of professional disciplinary regulations, including sanctions regulatory boards can use.
The course includes: text; cases illustrating ethical principles in clinical practice; multiple-choice examination; and certificate of one PDA point for each clock hour of the course completed (up to 4 total). Diplomates of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) seeking recertification will receive four (4) Professional Development Activity points for completing the entire course.
