  • Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy announced the Barstool Fund, an initiative to assist small businesses that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since December 17, 2020, the Barstool Fund has raised over $30 million and supported nearly 200 businesses. READ MORE
     
  • The Super Bowl LVI Business Connect program offers an incredible opportunity for Los Angeles County businesses that are minority, woman, LGBTQ+ and veteran-owned to get involved with the 2022 Super Bowl. The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee is teaming up with the NFL to provide professional development, networking and contracting opportunities for qualified LA businesses run through the program. The application process is underway, and the NFL and Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee are looking to identify up to 250 local businesses for NFL vendors and event producers to select suppliers to fulfill their Super Bowl LVI sub-contracting needs.   • Warren Leight, “Law and Order: SVU” showrunner and Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright, has turned to hiring unemployed Broadway actors. His goal is to get jobs for as many theater actors as he possibly can during the pandemic, as this sector has been hit incredibly hard. The roles vary in scope from one-day parts to others that are more substantial. This is a ray of light as actors wait for the curtains to rise again. READ MORE
     
  • Emma Grede was recently selected to the Board of Directors at TheRealReal. Both in and outside her role at Good American, she acts as a leading voice to empower women and is a strong advocate for women’s rights, education for girls, equal pay and representation. READ MORE
     
  • Emily Kane Miller is the founder & CEO of Ethos Giving, a philanthropic services firm in Los Angeles. At the outset of the pandemic, as a pro bono effort, Emily co-founded The Emergency Supply Donor Group to get needed PPE donated directly to hospitals across LA County. The Group has directed 100,000s of units of PPE to over 40 hospitals in the region. Emily and her team also launched #goodforthelonghaul, a campaign facilitating random acts of kindness for our healthcare heroes. Since their first activation on December 31, #goodforthelonghaul has helped to provide hundreds of meals, thousands of cupcakes and floral donations, and hundreds of thousands of snacks, fruit and other goodies at hospitals across the county. READ MORE
