The Fairfax Virginia Social Security office, which used to be located at 11212 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, Virginia, has relocated to a new location.  The new office address is 10800 Parkridge Blvd, Suite 100, Reston, Virginia.

Under normal operation, Social Security offices are open to in-person visits weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Social Security has yet to announce when local offices will reopen for walk-in service.  In-person visits can be arranged, by appointment, in what Social Security calls “dire need situations” involving benefits issues that cannot be resolved by phone, mail or online. You may also be able to schedule a visit to correct or update personal information attached to your Social Security number, such as your name or citizenship status.

To see if you qualify for an appointment, visit the SSA’s COVID-19 updates page at https://www.ssa.gov/coronavirus/

Most Social Security services do not require a visit to an office. For example, anyone wishing to apply for benefits, sign up for direct deposit, replace a Medicare card, obtain a proof of income letter or report a change of address or telephone number may do so at www.socialsecurity.gov or by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
